CAFOD and Leeds Trinity University are pleased to invite you to meet Mgr Héctor Fabio Henao, Director of CAFOD’s Colombia partner, Caritas Columbia. The event will take place at Leeds Trinity University on 12th September at 7pm. The talk will be followed by a reception (kindly paid for by the LTU) where you will have the opportunity meet the guest speaker and staff from CAFOD’s international division.
After 50 years of internal conflict in Colombia, peace negotiations between the Colombian government and the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) that began in October 2012 are now giving people hope for the future. Throughout the conflict, the Catholic Church has played a crucial role in promoting peace and human rights, in standing alongside threatened and displaced communities, and speaking out on their behalf. Mgr Hector Fabio Henao will share his unique insight into the conflict and the role of the church in promoting peace. He will also speak about how the church is supporting victims of the conflict and strengthening organisations in order to reinforce the peace-building process at a local level.
Tickets for the event are free however please register your attendance by contacting Ben or Joanne in the CAFOD Leeds office via email firstname.lastname@example.org or by phone 0113 275 9302.
