It’s only one week until Leeds Trinity University host the Leeds launch of CAFOD’s national ‘One Climate, One World Campaign’ on Thursday 16 October. The campaign is calling on all of the Westminster party leaders to prevent climate change pushing people deeper into poverty and to move towards sustainable energy for everyone, and CAFOD needs YOUR help.
Taking place between 12pm – 3.45pm, the launch will include TED-style climate change debates, art, music, activities and the chance for you to make your own pledge to tackle climate change.
12am- 1pm- The Atrium
You’re invited to visit CAFOD’s stand, pledge to change something in your life to tackle climate change and fill in a campaign action card, which will be delivered to all of the Westminster party leaders as the campaign progresses. Leeds Trinity Students’ Union will be supporting throughout the day with a programme of art and music.
1pm – 2pm, Conference Suite
Hear from three experts who will deliver TED-style talks exploring Climate Change from a theological, scientific and international perspective.
• Jesse Romero, CAFOD Partner CEAS (the agency of Bishops Conference in Peru), will discuss the impact of climate change on communities in Peru and what CAFOD is doing to support those communities
• Dr Ann-Marie Mealey, Senior Lecturer in Theology at Leeds Trinity University will discuss the moral and spiritual underpinning for the need to tackle climate change
• Andy Challinor, Professor of Climate Science at the University of Leeds, will discuss the impact of climate change from a scientific point of view
2pm – 3pm, The Atrium
Join in with games and activities, and help create a giant piece of artwork from cards on which people have pledged to change something in their life to tackle climate change.
3pm – 3.45 pm, The Chapel
There will be a prayer service held in the Leeds Trinity Chapel. All are welcome
